Summer 2021 Teen Intensive Workshops

Are you interested in art and eager to take a deep dive in learning techniques in bookmaking, screenprinting, or letterpress printing? Then DON'T miss out on this FREE opportunity!

Led by active artists, these 4-day intensive camps offer students 20 hours of in-person arts training in one of these three studios at Pyramid Atlantic. Each class is limited to a small cohort of 3-5 students, making for a more personalized experience and dedicated one-on-one time with the teaching artist. Students will have the opportunity to work with other art-focused youth in developing new skills, discuss their art and ideas in a comfortable setting, and have access to the materials and equipment found at Pyramid Atlantic—all while having fun and creating new work for their personal portfolios.

This program will also prepare students to work independently in Pyramid’s studios and other studios around the country. Students who wish to continue work at Pyramid can be tested to see if they are ready for certification and given guidance on next steps.

For Prince George's County students, ages 13-19.

(DC and other Maryland counties will also be considered)

Participation in this intensive camp will provide student artists with a hands-on experience. This means students should be willing to get their hands dirty with printing inks and other materials and should consider the nature of this type of art if there is any sensitivity or allergy to project art materials. Cell phone use will be limited during the time of the intensive due to the art making processes with which the student artists will be engaged.

Registration is subject to confirmation of residency and age requirements. Upon acceptance, student artists will be asked to review and sign Pyramid Atlantic’s code of conduct before starting this intensive. Student artists will also be expected to follow any COVID-19 regulations per Pyramid Atlantic Art Center’s policy, including but not limited to maintaining appropriate social distancing and wearing a face mask.

This intensive art camp series is a partnership between the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission – Prince George’s County Department of Parks & Recreation (M-NCPPC) and Pyramid Atlantic Art Center.
