The Designer in Residence (DIR) Program celebrates the spirit of collaboration, and aims to showcase the work of talented graphic designers who are interested in printmaking, book arts, and papermaking.


This is a 1-year residency during which the designer will continue and tweak Pyramid’s strong visual brand across a variety of platforms and media. The residency gives graphic designers a unique opportunity to work with a premier nonprofit arts organization, create strong portfolio pieces, and have access to the unique equipment and expertise at Pyramid Atlantic to take their design prowess and utilize it in the fields of printmaking, papermaking, and book arts to further the designer’s own artistic goals.



A draft calendar will be set up at the beginning of the residency with deadlines and important dates. This calendar will be further refined and updated quarterly.

  • Seasonal workshop postcards or brochures (4 annually)

  • Exhibition postcards (~8 annually)

  • Fundraiser Event promotion design (1 annually)

  • Other projects to be mutually agreed upon, including buttons, stickers, signage, etc. as DIR’s schedule allows.



  • Brief bio as Designer in Residence on Pyramid Atlantic’s website

  • “Designed by” credit on all print materials.

  • The opportunity to experiment and develop the artist's own work in Pyramid Atlantic’s community studios (after certification process) with 24-hour access.

  • 1 free class per season (4/annually)



  • This residency is open to all graphic designers, from early career to seasoned, who are not currently enrolled full time students. The DIR may work remotely on a flexible schedule, but must commit to completing projects with reasonable deadlines that allow for refinement as needed.
